Dr. T. H. A. Valintine, DirectorGeneral of Health, who has been on a visit to New Plymouth, returned to Wellington this morning.
Mr J. H. Fletcher, Postmaster at Stratford, who, with Mrs Fletcher, has been on a visit to England, is expected to return to Stratford on November Ist".
The death occurred yesterday of Mr Cyril C. Davis, son of Mr John Davis, of Olivia Street. The funeral will leave the residence at 3.15 p.m. for Kopuatama Cemetery. Firemen are asked to attend in uniform.
A message from Eotorua reports that the Mayor of that town, Mr, O. H. Clinkard, met with a serious accident at noon yesterday by falling ironi the roof of his garage to a concrete floor. He was removed to a hospital where an X-ray examination disclosed severe injury to his spine, making an opi'i-ation. imperative.
The appointment is announced of Mr William Watson Bird, M.A., at present senior inspector of schools in the Wellington district, to the f position of Chief Inspector of primary schools in place of Mr T. B. Strong. MA., B.Sc, recently appointed Assistant. Director of Education.— Press Association.
At the assembly at the Technical High School this morning the Princpal, Mr A. H. R. Amess, made feeling reference <.c '.lie aeath of the fate Mr- A. E. Copping. In a few well chosen remarks, Mr Amess referred to the work Mr Copping had done for the school.. and spoke of the great assistance he had render-, ed on several occasions.
