KILLED BY TRAIN, AUCKLAND, October 1. An inquest concerning tbo cleatn of Annie • Gladys Pemberton, whoi was found lying on the Ellerslie railway station platform in a dying condition as the 940 tram from Auckland was drawing out on the evening of September 10, was held before the coroner, D|r McKean, S.M. The coroner said that the evidence showed that deceased was in a carnage after the train left Ellerslie. .She then realised that she should have got off, and getting up, went out on 10 the platform, opened the gate, and fell from the train. The .cciiranc© was accidental and no blame was attachable to anybody. LETTER CARRIER KILLED. AUCKLAND, October 1. An accident occurred in Anzae Avenue this afternoon which resulted in the death of Adolphus Herrigi Valentine. aged 23, ai letter carrier, who was riding a motor-cycle. !n passing a miotor-lorry travelling in the sarnie direction,- he swept out too far and was in danger of colliding with an outward-bound tramcar. He turned quickly and the machine skidded, the rider being thrown .heavily and striking his head against the step of the tramcar. OaJentin© died an hour after his admission to ti e hospital. FOUND DEAD ON RAILWAY. AUCKLAND, October 1. The inquest touching the death of Alexander Fulton Elliott, .who was found dead beside the railway line .at Southdown railway crossing on August 13, was concluded) to-day.' Evidence was given that deceased was seen in Penrose prior to th© accident in a state of intoxication. He stated to one witness that he intended riding to Manurewa. The coroner (Mr F. K. Hunt, S.M.) found that deceased died on the railway line near the Southdown crossing on August 13, the' cause of death being injuries received through either having been thrown from his horse or having been knocked off by a passing train.
