EUCHARISTIC CONGRESS.

At many services throughout the Dominion yesterday reference was made to Die coming Eucharistic Congress to lie opened in Chicago on Sunday next. The Congress is a modern religious pilgrimage to manifest publicly to the world the Catholic belief that Christ is present in the Eucharist. and to promote among men. a. more widespread devotion to His teachings, ft i s thus a public demonstration of faith in the central belief of the Catholic world. The Congress will probably he ilia greatest, religious | demonstration in the history of the I world, aiul it is anticipated that over | a million people will attend. The \ visitors will include the president of the League of Nations Assembly, M. Danduraml, who will speak at several of the gatherings, and the President of the United States will b? personally represented. Great interest will attach to the presence at the congress of Monsignor Seipol, the Chancellor of Australia. The Pope will be represented by. Cardinal Bonzauo, and it is anticipated that more than twenty cardinals, forty archbishops and two hundred and sixty bishops will be present. Ten thus of medals have been sent from Rome- for distribution as mementoes of the congress. On Monday, at the opening Pontifical Mass, a choir of 60,000 children will sing Mass of the Angels. The special subject selected bv the Pope for discussion or the congress 'is, “The Eucharist and the Faml'.y.’ 4 A special day has been set apart for

women and wil] ho known as “Women’s Day.” There will also ho a mass meeting for men in the huge stadium, which is able to aoeommoj date 200,(KH) persons at on© time. Many outside the church of Rome will wish the congress all success, sinctf in essence it is a part of ihe witness which the Church universal bears to the power of faith.
