TAHORA.
The .stormy weather that Ave have been experiencing during the 'last week appears t<> have ended and there is every prospect of line . days and frosty nights continuing, to our great relief, as the roads in the district aire; in a very bad state, but a few sun and wind will .soon.revive them.
The township is filling tip rapidly with new families arriving tr> take-up positions on the P.W. Department and a" large humbier of new children are 'attending the local school; half of, which, was taken down to the Tangarakaiu Flat late last year. The school isi-now in a very cramped' state but we- are in hopes of relief from the Education Department in the near 'future.

A very fair house attended, which would have l>een packed to the roof, only for the slips' that are down on the line that runs to Tangarakan Flat. a>nd of course the state of the road would not allow of anyone coming per foot. , , Mr Jim Bowman has returned to iTahora after a fortnight's holiday down south.

KOHURATANi.
A member of the survey party, hi tin AJiiui block, had the misfortune to liK'ot with an accident last week. While working in the bush, the slasher lie was using caught on a vine, coming down a ikl cutting an artery in the- left arm. First aid was rendered to the sufferer, who was then brought across country to the residence of Mr and. Mrs D. Morrison and thence to the nurse.
Whilst some by-roads residents are annoyed by the wild pie, the main road ones are troubled by the Pukaki, whioh eat the young grass and destroy the newlv sown seeds. These birds arc protected and I think it must be on account of their glorious plumage, as it is indeed it is a majestic spectacle t 0 witness 40 or oO of these birds on a green paddock j but considering the damage done, it' appears as though a few could be spared for game in the shooting season as it might help to scare them from coming as near as two yards from a. resident's door-step.
-Miss W. Stockwell is spending a holiday with frineds in Stratford.
Mr W. Gill and liis son Alan, have been spending a few days in New Plvunouth.
Mr F. Cleland also returned on Tuesday night.
