Speaking at the annual meeting of the. Band last night, Mr P. Skoglund said (hat the Band were required by the Council, to give 12 public performances a year. During the year just closed, the number of concerts given had exceeded that number, and be hoped that in the future, the Band would ho able to get out more often. II it were possible to giv<> 24 concerts in the year, it would go a long way towards popularising the Band. There wa s a fair attendance at the. side yesterday of Mr O. Meoli's "Ferndale" herd. Tho highest price paid was 62 guineas i'or Oakfarnv Fairy Wonder, which was bought by Mr F. A. Edwards, of Gore. Twentyone cows averaged 22 guineas, heifers 8 and yearling bulis 7. Grades sold well. . One brought, £27 10s and a number brought £2O. Tho sale was conducted under the a.usmce s of Newton King Ltd., and the Farmers' Co-op. (Stratford) in conjunction.

The Stratford Citizens" Band desires to acknowledge receipt of donations of 10/G from Messrs 0. D. Solo and W. H. Rudkin.

When the question of making a contribution to the funds of the Eglhoiit.National Park Board was being discussed by the County Council today, Cr J. T. Bobber said he.:: disagreed'with the principle of givhigxa contribution unconditionally. " i;JIe; thought there should be some indication as to where the raonev should be spent. Cr Were agreed, and -the Chairman (Mr T.R. Anderson) pointed out that if an amount were contributed the Council would have t'W power to say for what, purpose ;it should be used.
