READING OF BURNS' "MOUSE."
j Tbei judges, the..ReV. J. McGregor and Messrs' Petrie, sen., and Kennedy have'just completed their stimedifficult task in decadi'ng rae merits- of -the various competitors for the trophies awarded by the Hon. James Craigie. There were six boys and 17 girls entered, but 1 only five boys and seven girls faced the judges. The result was very commendable. All of them acquited themselves well, and in most of them the difference in marks was; small. , MriAraiess, tihe Principal of the Technical High School, was present, but took no part in th©. decisions. He. expressed himself a.s, very satisfied at the way the examination was. conducted and at rate wa,v the marks were awarded. The wrizes will h© presented at the next lingleside. , ' Following are details of the awards: BOYS; 1 First: Clifford Crossman, 91 per cent. Text perfect; doric splendid; interpretation exceedingly good; easily excelled among the winners. Second : David Thomson, 86 per cent. Text perfect; interpretation and' doric good; deportment fair ; articulation good: enuneration fair. Third: A. Pettigrew,_ 84 per cent., only failed in two points below the second prize-winner. > '■J ' GIRLS. First: Mario Villers, 01 per cent, distinct dramatic ability, worthy of having it developed; isplendid interpretation forwhich she got the maximum marks. Second; Elsie Ferguson, 90 per cent. Kood interpretation and doric: a little short of winner in deportment; splendid performance. Third: Dorothy Roberts, 89 per cent, good in interpretation and doricslightly weak in denm-tment; but excellent in articulation. Consolation prizes will be given t-> Marjorie Yountr and Isabel Elliott, for their very creditable preformances.
