NGAERE NOTES.
(From Our Own Correspondent). The annual meeting of the library Committee was held on the 10th iust. Mr T. E. Coleman, president, in reporting upon the years work, remarked that he had never seen affairs in connection with the society m such a satisfactory condition v The finances "‘ere so healthy that* it was proposed to spend £lO in the purchase of new books. The personnel of tv., new committee is as follows: —Messrs . T. E. Coleman, president (re-elected), , Miss C. Coleman, secretary (re-elect-J ed), Mrs Bonner, Messrs G. Woods, IJ. Pennington, W. Moss and G( Sherwood. The selection committee, wijl be composed of Mrs Bonner, Messrs Sherwood, Pennington ancV Moss. There is no doubt the Ngaere library compares very favorably with that of many a larger place. The number of volumes will, before very long, reach the, two thousand mark; and on the shelves are tp be found many books of reference as well as. the lighter literature. Three other meetings or residents will he held during the next week, when members of the Hall Society and Crihbage Club meet, also householders in connection with the school committee election. i Mr J. Arthur has returned from 1 Auckland, having made a splendid recovery from his recent severe illness »n that city. His numeous friends are genuinely glad to see him amongst them again. I A few days ago a large haystack! owned hv Mr Nolly, of Sole Road, : was destroyed by fire. The cause is j believed to have heen over-heating.
