STRATFORD HOSPITAL.

MEETING OP THE BOARD. The Stratford Hospital Board mat-to-day, when Mjr C. D. Sole occupied the chair. Alsp present were Messrs W. H. Were. J. T. Belcher, J. O’Neill, E. Marfell, W. L. Kennedy, and G. P. Harkness. TENNIS COURTS. The Chairman reported that the tennis courts had been completed and that the work was quite satisfactory. The nurses had been playing on the courts for some time. Mr Hunter, the contractor, had promised to donate a machine for marking out the courts. It was decided to thank Mr Hunter for his offer. ACCOUNTS.** It was decided to write off accounts amounting to £953 13s 2d. The Chairman explained that although the accounts were written off such action was being taken for bookkeeping purposes only. They would be transferred, to the suspense account and collected as opportunity offered.

VISITING COMMITTEE. Messrs Marfe.ll and Were _wore appointed a visiting committee fof the ensuing month. ESTIMATES AND LEVIES. A special meeting was then held to deal with the question of subsidy and the following resolution was passed: “That in accordance with the provisions of the Act, the Board having estimated the nett expenditure for maintenance purposes at £6434 Os lOd and ascertained that the subsidy from the consolidated fund will be £3053 6s lOd, hereby apportions_the remainder amongst the contributing local bodies in its district in proportion to the rateable capital value. The Soar'd having estimated the nett expenditure for capital purposes ab £1056 9s 4d, one-half of which is provided by Government subsidy hereby apportions the remainder at the rate of 21 per £IOO as per schedule. The local authorities are hereby called upon to contribute the sums set against their respective names by equal monthly instalments commencing on April 30, 1926:

C. Yorke, reported on various routine matters and the report was received. Other routine reports were also adopted.
