The schooner Silver Wave was caught in the ice and drifted away into the dark, hopeless region where it wi 11 never more he heard of. The Silver Wave is the fourth vessel lost beyond Behring Straits this year. She was caught in the same Held which enveloped the Kindersley, hut after that ship disappeared. The Silver Wave had a dozen passengers who were landed safely hy Captain llegncss and the engineer, who camped there all night. Slush ice next day prevented their only small boat going out to bring ashore four of the new. Captain Hegness waited for better weather which never came. The wind carried the ship and icefield seaward, and when last seen it had signals of distress still flying. Captain Hegness kept up the hopeless search for a fortnight.
