ENGLISHMEN AT PERTH
GfLLLG AN SCORES A CENTURY
PERTH. Oct. 20
England is playing a return match against West Australia, the visitors, who batted first, being all out for 1597 when stumps were drawn. The weather was fine and the wicket good. Hear ne and Chapman played steady, correct cricket. Gilligan and Tate, in a brilliant partnership, put on a century in 63 minutes. Gilligan batted with the greatest freedom, his. score including five sixes and ten fours, but the display was marred by several chances. He was at the wicket for 130 minutes. Tate also had more than one let-off.
The fielding was poor, and with the exception of Blundell, who secured the lino average of five wickets for 59, the visitors made the bowling look easy. Details:—
