Lecturing to members of the, Millions Club, Sydney, on oysters,: Mr ,T. C. Roiighley, of the Technological ,Museura, stated that there was a irommon impression that oysters

This rule applied 1 to the English oyster, an entirely different species, and in New ; 43outh Wales oysters could ’be safely ,eaten all the year round. Mr. Roughley concluded his lecture with a plea .for a more liberal consumption of oysters. ' “You will ,all agree with 1 me,”, he stated, “that. Nature • has 'provided no more palatable gift, yet 'show many people think.creating them '■/or : lunch, tea, or supper? Is it the 'fear of contamination or of contracting typhoid? If so; there Is no risk (whatever Of any infection if oysters are bought in the shell or server on plates. Such oysters are grown in rivers, where contamination is unknown. But oysters sold i n bottles, particularly by hawkers, are sometimes open to grave suspicion.”
