REPLIES TO QUESTIONS.

Wellington, October 27. The House of Representatives met at 7.30 to-night.

In reply to Mr T. K. Sidey (Dunedin South), the Prime Minister. (Hon. W. F. Massey) said he would probably take the discussion on the Publib Works Statement and the Estimates on one day curing the week, but he had not yet decided on which day.

Replying to Mr T. M. Wilford (Leader of the Opposition), Mr Massey said there was still time for private members to submit further clauses to the’ Minister in charge of the Bill.

Amendments made by the Legislative Council in the Motor Vehicles Bill were agreed to with the exception of sub-clause 31 of the new clause 27, and Messrs T. K. Sidey, J. W. Munro and the Hon. R. F. Bollard were appointed to prepare reasons for disagreeing.

Replying to Mr' P. de la Perrelle, the Hon. W. Nosworthy (Minister for Agriculture) said the regulations for the prevention of the introduction of foot and mouth disease from Britain were as nearly perfect as possible, and nothing was to he gained by attempting to force the hands of the Government.

Reulying to Mr G. Witty (Riccarton), the Hon. J. G. Coates (Minister for Railways) said the D 3 would be ready and in circulation to members before Parliament adjourned. In reply to the Hon. J. A. Hanan (Invercargill), Mr Massey said the Licensing Bill was being drafted ana he would state in a few days whether or not it would be gone on with this session. .

Replying to Mr W. H. Field (Otaki), the Hon. C. J. Parr (Minister for Justice) said the question of increasing the salaries of magnistrates was now under consideration, but there was unlkeliy to be any legislation on the subject, this session. There probably would be legislation this session dealing with the question of superannuation.

The House rose at 12.15 a.m. till 2.30 p.m.
