• Mr R. Masters, M.P., returned to Wellington by the mail tram this morning. Dr Elizabeth Gunn. and Nurse Wise arrived in Stratford this morning and commenced their usual inspection at the Stratford Primary School. The many friends of Mr (C.f C. Johnston will be glad to hear that there is a steady progress in his condition. He is at present in Marire private Hospital, not the Public Hospital as stated yesterday. . The resignation of his position on " School Committee by Mr W. J. Viliers'was, accepted by the com: mittee at its meeting last night. It was decided to nominate Mr H. A. Hunt for the vacancy, subject to his consent. The School Committee last night accepted the resignation ,of Miss ' Sage,swho has been appointed to Mokau, and it was decided to forward to her a letter of appreciation of her services. In thanking the ■committed on behalf of Miss Sage, Mr Furrie (headmaster) said the school was losing the services of a - very sound, teacher. The third son of Mr F. Foley, Rosalind Street, met with a serious accident last Saturday evening. Whilst playing, the child fell down a Mf*V hank and sustained a fraci lured skull. He was immediately removed to Marire Private Hospital, and, though serious, his condition is Improving. Mr F. G. Catchpole, clerk to the x Whangamomona County Council at tlje meeting 0 n Monday wa* presented with a handsome clock on tlle occas_ lon of : his marriage, which took place recently.
