In the Dunedin Police Court on Friday moraine', the case was continued in which James Dee was charged with having, on July 13, wilfully set fire to a building situated at 73 Lower Rattray Street and occupied by Keith, Ramsay and Co. Ko pleaded not guilty to both charges. Chief-Detective Lewis said it was proposed to include evidence relating to three fires on the same, night of the alleged offence, and also to a fire a week previously, the object being to show a system. The case was adjourned. Walter Battnrbee, aged 38 years, married, a Fa’ mer living in lh« Waiokuaiti district, wag charged on remand at the Dunedin, .Police Cou't on Friday with carnal knowledge, attempted carnal knowledge, and indecent assault on three girls and two hoys, all under twelve years* of agio, ; and boarded out from institutions.^v The court was cleared during the evidence. The accused was remanded till* Tuesday.
