WIRELESS AND PREFERENCE

EMPIRE AND THE DOMINIONS. (Sun Cables.) London, May 7. (Received 10.35 a.m.) It is ttndrstood that when the Cabinet Committee's wireless report is published at the end of the week, it will reveal that the Government has' decided as a matter of urgency to create an Empire wireless chain. It is stated on high authority, that Cabinet has found a solution of the long standing difficulties between thfll Post Office and the -Marconi Company enabling work to be begun, without delay in the construction of stations throughout the Empire. Tha commercial necessity for speedier communcation was not the sole factor in influencing the Government's decision. The outspoken comments of the Dominions' newspapers regarding the Government's attitude regarding preference and the Singapore base also had great effect, and Mr MacDonald is anxious for warmer and more cordial relations.
