Two men' dismounted from a motor car in new Bond Street at ten o'clock in the morning and smashed the window of Harhan's jeweller's shop with a hammer. They snatched a diamond necklace valued at £BOOO, re-entered the car 'and drove towards Piccadilly. A policeman was a witness of the audacious theft, and jumping into a taxi he pursued the thieves, other police and pedestrians joining in the chase.
