CHRISTCHURCH ESTATES
DISTRIBUTION OF BEQUESTS.
Press Association—Copyright. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. London, March 24.
Mr William Acton Adams, of Christchurch, who died recently in England, left an estate of £202,868. Margaret Griffiths receives £SOO “for excellent cooking,” and Althea Sibbald, secretary, £IOOO. Mr John Duncan McGruer, also of Christchurch, left £5900. Lily Bently, matron of St. Pancras Infirmary, received £IOO annuity “for devotion to the Anzacs.” The residue goes to the New Zealand Salvation Army and Presbyterian authorities for social work.
THE McGRUER ESTATE. Christchurch, March 25. Regarding the cable in connection with the McGruer estate, relatives here state that it is obviously incorrect. Mr McGruer died about twelve months ago, leaving a very large estate, the residue of which will go to the Salvation Army and the Presbyterian orphanages. Details were given at the time, and the relatives state that they know no reason why the estate, or any part of it, should now come under review at Home.
