CELTIC CLUB IN STRATFORD.

OFFICES APPOINTED.

A meeting iof those interested in the proposed Celtic Football Club ■was held at Smith's tearooms last night. Mr A. Pinch was voted to thri chair. v r

Mr D. P, Deere moved the formation of a football club, to be known as the “Celtic Football Club,” and that it be regarded as a junior club. This was seconded by Mr Casey, arid crirried.

It was decided that the subscription be 5s per annum. The following members were elected: W. Casey, G. Collins, B. Collins, .1. Coyne, J. Fitzgerald, P. Healey, 0. Tockor, D. Mduat, C. Johnson, W. Hewes, E. Golding, V. Grant, Carol Coulton, W. S. Sharrock, L. P. Coley, L. F. Coley, W. Miers, L. Morris, J. Hopkirk, L. R. Hodson, T. P. O’Neill, T. Allen, P. Casey, D. P. Deere, P. Foley, A. Finch,, J. Hampson, E. Aagaard, P. Reeve, L, Hall,’F. Ahern, A. Kovaleski, J. Boyle, R. Rawles, R. Jury, J. Bennett, W. H. Kelly, B. Garrard, J. Ford, H. James, N. Ford, G. Coyne.

With regard to the club’s colors, Mr Deere said it had been proposed that the colors be blue and white, but it had been since ascertained that Tariki had these colors. It was decided that the colors le green and white. Officers were then elected as follows: Patron, Mr R.-Masters, M.P.; president, Mr W. H. Kelly; vice-pre-sidents, Messrs B. Garrard, A. Pinch, R: J. Hill, B. Rawles, T, McDonald; committee, Messrs E. Golding, 0. Tocker, P. Casey and W. Casey; 1 secretary, W. Casey, treasurer, D. P.’ Deere; auditor, L. P. Foley; delegate to Stratford club, D. P. Deere; club captain, J. Hampson; selector and coach, Les Berg. ■

i With regard to selector, it was decided that the club captain in conjunction with the team captain and ,one selector act together. It was also agreed that application be made to the Stratford Club for transfer of members to the Celtic. Messrs Cropton and Hampson dc- ( nated a football, and received a vote of thanks.

A suggestion was made that night practices should be arranged, and Mr Hehley was deputed to interview Warrant Officer J. Oliphant-Rowe to obtain the use of the drill hall, if possible. i It was agreed to meet at the Showgrounds for the first practice on Thursday afternoon. The dress for the team is to consist of black shorts, green and white hooped stockings, and green and white jersey. The committee was authorised to enforce a proper uniform in all matches. A social committee was appointed as follows: Messrs P. Casey, P. Healey, P. J. Fitzgerald'and A. Finch, with power to add;

SCHOOLS UNIOST. ■ The annual general meeting of the Taranaki Primary ‘ Schools 4 Rugby Union i s set down for Saturday afterhoon in the' Stratford primary school. The operations *o£ the Schools Union were extended last year to embrace North, South and the entire Western side of the mountain. This year it is intended to make an attempt to organise the Eastern dis-' tricts under the Schools’ Union. Other important business is also set down for discussion. All primary, schools may be represented.

THE CLUB CATES,^ At the meeting of the Union on Monday night the Chairman of the Management Committee (Mr J. McLeod) submitted a statement showing that the net gates received from the various clubs after deductions of rent, etc., were; Clifton £62 11s 10d, Inglewood £6l 5s lid, Ohato £3 12s lid, Opunake £l4 17s 3d, Kaponga £l9 6s 4d, Waimate £3O 11s 6d, Okaiawa £46 7s 4d, Hawera £59 19s, Patea £lB 5s 4d, ■ Elthanl £B6 6s 6d, Stratford £9 2s 7d, Nevv Plymouth £473 11s 6d. The total expenses of management were £550, which, divided among 14 clubs, means an average of £4O per club. With this charged up against the clubs, as well as the travelling expenses refund, etc., it showed that Clifton had a profit of £9 3s 6d, Elbham £3l Is 6d, Stratford £2717s 6d, and New Plymouth £324 10s 6d whereas Xnglewood showed a loss of £37 19s 7d, Okato £SB 12s Id, Opunake £63 2s 9d, Kaponga £3O 18s Bd, Waimate £2O 9s 9d, Okaiawa £6 6s Bd, Hawera £5 7s, and Patea £49 9s Bel.
