EX-CLERGYMAN'S SLANDER CASE. , -London,! October 16.

Before Justice Darling, and a special jury, ex-Archdeacon -Wakeford sued Henry. Wright, managing iclerk for the solicitors employed . by; the Bishop of; Lincoln in the .recent proceedings before the. Consistory Court, for damages for alleged slander. It was alleged that Wright said to a clergyman: "I know John Wakeford is gudty. I myself, traced him to various hotels with women." Wright is also alleged to have said on another occasion; "Waketford is a very, nice fellow, if, he would only keep the seventh commandment." Defendant denied the slander, and pleaded bonaflde and fair comment I without malice.

In accordance with wishes of tho Lord Mayor-elect, the theme of the Lord Mayor's Show will be "One Hundred Years of Empire." A huge globe will show the present extent of the Empire and the progress of Industry, and naval and other developments since 1723.
