(From Our Chvn Correspondent). The Kohuratahi Settlers' Association held its .annual , meeting on August 31 in the public hall. The attendance was only moderate, the majority of members, evidently considering !tha,t. their, 1 iresiponsi bill tie': ended with the payment of their dues. It was ever so. The work and worry of administration of such associations are left to a few enthusiastic spirits, but the local association has less to contain of in this) direction than, kindred associations in other centres. The el ction of office-bearers for the ensuing year resulted: Mr N. R. Cleland, (president); S. Harre, (vicepresident) ; and an executive committee of eight. Tli© position of secretary was held over fori the next meeting to deal with, Mr T. E. Trash holding office in the meantime. The president, vice-president and secretary biiefly addressed the meeting, and in reply to a vote of thanks to the delegates representing the association on tho affiliated body, Mr Ij. Sutton gave a. brief resume of th© work of that body during the past term. A vote of thanks was also tendered Mr K. Masters. MVP., for the manner in which he had served the Association in the past.

Questions such as the supply of metal from the T© Wera metal pit and train and mail services, were discussed, while some other business of importance was left over to b? dealt with at the next meeting. The secretary was directed to communicate with the Member for the District, asking him to keep before the Minister for Public Works tho most urgent needs of th© district aa. placed before him during his last visit to the district.
