James Ferguson and William Little were each fined £l, with 7a, at the Eltham Court on Tuesday, for being found on licensed premises after hours. Ferguson did not appear, but Little came to court and pleaded guilty. He told the constable who found him in the hotel thai ho bad come to so a man named Brovtfn. Jn answer to Mr A. M. Mowlem, S.M., Little said he was invited to the hotel to see a friend. Sergeant Henry: About a dog? The magistrate said that licensed premises after hours was an extremely awkward place for one to bo found in. In such cases be bad all kinds of excuses from defendants. Sometimes a defendant wont to see "a man named Brown, sometimes he went to see the housemaid, and sometimes he was sweet on the girl in the kitchen." Little was lined £1 with costs 7s.
