HIGH PRICES FOR CHEESE. SALES AT lOtf REPORTED. Following the advance in quotations for cheese on the London market it has been reported that Severn! sales at sat-'sfactory price* hav» been made in Taranaki during tho past few days for the ouipiit from August to Noveaiber in lusive. In a number of cases salos have been made at 10d per'lb, and lOld is reported to have been accepted. On ft butter-fat basis the return to farmers on the quotation mentioned should be Is lOd to Is 10}d per lb. Inquiries are being made for but« tor at Is -6}d to Is 6}d, 'but there is very little business doing at these figures. The d.rectors' of the Cardiff Dairy Company-met buyers of dairy produce yesterday, and alter consideruvg offers up to 10jd per lb of cheese for September and October make, decided (•<> continue their policy of consigning through Messrs W. "Weddel and Co., London. Dm ing the past week or so offers for the present season's output *£ cheese have been made, ranging from 9d to 10*d f.o.b. for the first three months' make (v.-rites our Urenui coi respondent). It is reported the latter price has been accepted by the White Cliffs Com-, pany. Some factories are somewhati reluctant to sell even at this price, as it is anticipated there will be a keen demand for the early shipments on the Home market.
