Mr C. For tor, formerly of Midhirst, who is manager of a dairy factory near Paerou, and who recently paid a visit to Stratford, left for Paeroa by |his morning's mail train.

Mr C. J.- Belcher, chairman of the Kltham County Council, accompanied by Mr ,F. Muggeridge, county foreman, left for the fiangitikei district by Monday morning's mail train. After a brief illness there passed away at the Palmerston North hospital Mr H. D. Stride, of the Forestry Department, who, up to the time of his illness, was the officer iu charge of the sand dunes reclamation work at Oroua Downs. The late Mr Stride, who was 4!> years of age, was taken ill suddenly, suffering from an old internal complaint, and he was removed to the hospital where death supervened a few hours later.

Mr George Overton, one of Wanganui Education Board's organising teachers, has been appointed headmaster of the Terrace End School, Palmerston North, In place of Mr William Smith, of Wellington, who has the appointment,
