An Albany telegram says that an interesting development, arising out of the New York State Legislature's repeal of the State Prohibition enforcement law, accurred today, when Governor Smith, before deciding whether to sign or veto the repeal, held on open court to obtain the views of both- the "drys" and tho "wets," who conducted bit ter campaigns. . In view of the fact that the Governor's action w^lt. .JiKslyvhayq nationaL influence, one hundred organisations 'and clpbs sent .delegations, wherein women largely were conspicuous o n . both Sides, : Vigorous argument occurred. The delegates presented Mr Gonipcrs' letter to the Governor, denouncing the Volstead Act. and declaring that no doubt the riper judgment of the American people on prohibition will force the next Congress to pass a reasonable modifications of the prohibition law.'
