ERECTION OF SHOPS AND OFFICES. I'oith in tho future of Stratford is shown by Mr J. Petrie, jeweller, who is having a two-storyed building of ferro-concrete built at the corner of Broadway North and Regan Sta’cet. The ground floor will consist of three shops, averaging about oOft. by one of which Mr. Petrie will occupy for his busings as watchnnikor and jeweller. The total street frontage will be 111 ft., with suspended verandah to both streets. Tho front portion of tho building will be finished in colored tiles, and the sash fronts and lattice will bo of heart oak with plate glass windows. The entrance to the first floor is from Regan Street, with a ten feet corridor with concrete staircase leading i to the first floor whore provision is made for eleven large offices. with till necessary conveniences. The. whole of tho building will be fireproof throughout, the only wood used in tho construction being the rod timber. The front to the street will bo of a neat appearance and finished in Atlas white cement plaster. . The total cost of the building will bo about £o,Boo, and it is expected, provided the weather is favourable, to have tli%? building completed in about six months’ time. Messrs .T. T. .Julian and Sons, Ltd., of Auckland, are the contractors, and the architect is Mr John P.
