SAFETY OF THE EMPIRE

WORK OF HER ENEMIES. THE OUTPOSTS’ INTERESTS. Press Association—Copyright. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. (Received 10.20 a, m.) Lord Strathspey writes to ' the Sunday Express; “If things continue as they are now going in sixty years hence there may be no British Empire. ’ . >"• Referring to the processes making for Imperial disintegration, he says the remedy is sympathetic interest and a kindlier spirt from the Mohterland towards the problems and aspirations of the Dominions. They should be represented in the British Houses of Parliament. He strongly advocates that High Commissioner and Agent-General be given a seat in the House of Lords while representing his Dominion here, and should have an honorary title. Representation of Overseas lands in the House of Commons should be entered on the same lines as the Rhodes scholars in universities. 1 This would moan that the Empire would be thoroughly represented by experts when the Dominions affairs wore under consideration.

Lord Strathspey would like to see tuq English Cabinet invite the Overseas High Commissioners to bo present on all occasions when dealing with the foreign policy. In that way, they would put a stop to all such events as occurred over the Turkish crisis.
