"THE MARDI GRAS."
The final concert of the Sunday night series will be Held in the. King’s Theatre to-morrow nigho. Excellent as the previous concerts have been, to-morrow’s programme will easily eclipse its predecessors. The orchestra will consist of twenty players, ten of whom are coming from Hawera. Amongst the items is a ’cello solo, “Slumber Song,” by Mr Saxon Jones, and a cornet solo, “The Lost Chord,” by Mr A. J. Kelly. The vocalists are Miss Inez Rigg and Mr Walter Fennell. The “Poet and Peasant” overture, which was splendidly performed at the last concert, will be repeated to-morrow evening by request. Another batch of entries was received for the Mardi Gras Procession to he held next Thursday, and there is ever}' indication of a vary fine spectacular pageant. Brass Bands from Hawera, Patea, Eltham, Waetara and the local Band will participate, and will } on arrival at the / Sliow Grounds, take part in thh quick stop contest. The Mardi Gras Ball is to be held in the T|>wn Hall next Monday evening. This will be a brilliant function, and the music will be supplied by the Mardi Gras dance orchestra oT eight instruments. The ball will be plain and fancy dress, and prizes will be allotted to the best in the ladies’ and gents’ section/ of the fancy dress.
