Affiliated Clubs

CHAMPIONSHIPS DECIDED

At the Egmont Club rooms last night the Affiliated Clubs’ billiard and snooker championships were decid'od, gold medals bring presmtod to the winners. There was a large attendance of members from all clubs. Following are details of the play:—

Billiards.—W. Preece (New Plymouth) 300 boat T. B. -Bridger (Egmont) 247; Forster (C.E.M.S.) 300 beat W. Patterson (Hawera) 170. Final: W. Preece (New Plymouth) beat Forster (O.E.M.S) 261. Snooker.-—P. ii. Brooking. (E'gmont) v. C. Cooper (C.E.M.S.)—lst game Brooking won 72-—42,' 2nd game Cooper won 70—29, 3rd game Brooking won 59 31. E, A. Pacey (Hawera v. C. McAllum (New Plymouth) —Pacey won thel first two games. Final: Brooking (Egmont) v. Paeey (Hawera) —Ist game Pacey won, 2nd game Brooking won, 3rd game Pacey won. This game was keenly contested, Brooking being 22 in the lead with 26 on the table, and Pacey potted the lot and received a. round of cheers. Mr A. K. Smart (President of the Taranaki Affiliated Club’s Association) presented the billiard sidled to Egmont Club, and the snooker shield to C.E.M.S., and congratulated them on their win. He also presented gold medals to Mr 'Preece and Mr Pacey, winners of the billiard and snooker championships lesepcctivbly. Dir Smart concluded with thanks to the Egmont Club for the use of the rooms and to tiie various markets.

Mr Aylward (President of t/ie Egmont Chib) returned thanks. In the absence of iMr Stanncru. (O.E.M.S. President) Mr Thorpe rcturn'ed thanks on his behalf; and Messrs Preece and Pacey also returned thanks. Mr Pacey spoke in appreciation of the kindness and sportsmanship of the members of the Egmont Club.

A musical programme and supper wertj provided. Honors are evenly divided between the four clubsi as follows: BSlliardl •shield, Egmont; snooker shield, C.E.M.S. billiard chapionship, New Plymouth; snooker championship, Hawera.
