At a gathering of citizens at Auck. land a prese- tation of an illuminated address a,”d a cheque for 1-372 was made to Mr A. E. GTover, ex-M.P. for Auckland Centra 1 , in recognition of h’s public services.

Ihe death took place at New Plymouth’ early yesterday morning of Mrs Baker, wife of Mr C. E. Baker, of New Plymouth. Mrs Baker had b'en seriously ill for some weeks, and her death was not unexpected.

Mr Edgecombe has been keenly interested in many publ c matters in Stratford, and has especially identified himself with bowling, and with bis wife, will carry the good wishes of a large circle of friends.
