Mr Daniels (Secretary to the Navy) gave out a statement regarding the strength of the Austrian Navy, which totals 2-18 vessels of various types, including 15 battleships, 15 cruisers, 21 destroyers, G 7 torpedo boats, 45 submarines, 10 torpedo gunboats, and -13 minelayers. Tim destruction of the \irihus P,litis was due to a new boat invented by Commander Rossetti, the leader of the raid. FLOATING MINE DESTROYED. Per Press Association. Wellington, November 5. Captain Hall Thompson, Naval Adviser to the Government, reports that on the morning of October 31 in heavy weather, the Anchor Line steamer Waimea, on her way from Wanganui to Greymonth, observed a floating mine off Cape Farewell, and after considerable trouble, succeeded in sinking it.
