INQUEST.

DEATH AT WH ANCAMOMONA. The inquest on the remains of the late Engine O'Farrell took place in the Whangamomona Hotel, on the 30th October. Mr E. J. Hill, J.P.. of Kolmratahi, acted as coroner. The evidence of Mr Alfred Brace was to the effect that, on the 28th, he had tea with the deceased at the Whangamomona Hotel, and after tea iparted company with him at the street door. Deceased said he was going home. He appeared to he in good health. This was at 5.50 p.m. He was perfectly soher. W. G. Finnamore deposed that on going home from Whangamomona, on the 29th, about 2 in the afternoon, just over the old bridge he thought he could see someone lying down the bank having a sleep. Coming back to Whangamomona lie got assistance, and returned to the bridge where he found deceased lying dead. He then went for the police, and assisted in the removal of the body to the morgue. He had known deceased for three or four years. He was of soher habits. He never complained of any illness beyond something wrong with his nose. James Kelso said he had known deceased for eight years. Last Sunday week while he was with him getting wood at Kolmratahi, he was seized with a kind of stroke, and lay down on the hank. He said he felt very bad. He never complained of any particular pain. He had complained on other occasion of a bad pain in the heart. Deceased was a .Roman Catholic. Peter Keller, Public Works fcngineer, deposed that deceased had been in the employ of his department since 1903. He was born in 1851, and had always been of most sober and industrious habits. Constable Totter gave evidence re finding the body. There were no marks of violence about the deceased. He was lying peacefully with his pipe in his mouth, and looked from all appearances to have died from heart failure, i The jury, comprising Messrs A. ;iiiddell, Louis Klee, A. Klee, .1. Cnmmock, 1.
