Time was when the future of N.Z. was supposed to be chiefly bound up in its gold resources. Since then agriculture and sheep and .cattle have opened up new avenues. to wealth. Later came our industries, and these are destined to play an important part in the development of the country. Take the tobacco industry and see the strides it is making. Gold Pouch tobacco, grown and manufactured in Hawke’s Bay, is uow in general use all over X.Z., and the demand has increased at such stupendous rate that the manufacturers can no longer cope with it. The smoker prefers the local product to the foreign article, on account of its smaller percentage of nicotine which makes it a milder and healthier smoke. Price has not been advanced. Gold Pouch and also Tree Diamonds are still obtainable at Is per pouch. - •
