The Government has prescribed most drastic regulations, to come into effect on Ist September on transAtlantic merchant ships, in order to combat U boats. They must carry prescribed armament, Be painted in order to ensure the greatest possible invisibility, and carry a minimum of one dozen smoke-boxes winch are designed to create a smoke-screen when U boats are sighted.
