WHANGAMOMONA COUNTY COUNCIL.
At 'file monthly meeting on Monday, the following were present;— Councillors McCutchan (chairman), O’Neill, Cleland, McLeod, Coyne, and Geever. The Chairman was granted an extension of time in which to see the Engineer re Putikituna Road work. The following motion, moved by the Chairman and seconded hy Cr. Geever was carried: That applicacations be made for loans for Messrs Bray, MoQuinn and Coramock’s bridges under the “Local Bodies’ Loans Act,” ' The Chairman moved that the Engineer be empowered to effect the necessary repairs up to £0 to the Mangaro Road—seconded by Cr. O’Neill and carried. A motion by Cr. McLeod that repairs, the cost of which must not exceed £lO, be done on Vera Road, was seconded by the Chairman and carried. The Chairman moved, and Cr. Geever seconded, that £l2 be expended in giving Mr Aylward vehicular access to his road.—Carried. Regarding the communication from the Ohinemuri 'County Council rc motor traffic, the Chairman moved that the Clerk acknowledge the letter and advise the Council that the matter does not affect the Whangamomona County.—The motion was seconded hy Cr. McLeod and carried. In connection with A. Scott’s claim for wages, it was decided that the sum of £6 10s be paid and that the Council inform Mr Scott that it does not recognise any other liability. Cr. O’Neill moved that a committee consisting of the Chairman, Crs. Geever, Cleland, and McLeod, be set up to confer rc Putikituna Road loan, and upon the consent of the majority of the ratepayers m the special rating area to expend up to £IOO of their “thirds” in repairing the damage done hy the carting of metal for the Kohuratahi Road, th* Chairman he ; empowered to accept tenders for metal.—Car tied. Cr. Geever’s uotSft of motion re main roads was adjourned until next
meeting. Cr. Coyne' was authorised to have the blackberry cut on the County reserve on the Tipuni Road. Cr. Coyne moved, Cr. O’Neill seconding, “That upon receipt of a cheque from T. E. Mouusey covering the cost of Mounsoy’s bridge, ■the Engineer he instructed to order the material forthwith, upon the understanding that the Council will not proceed with the erection until the loan money is to hand.—Carried.
The surfacemen’s wages were increased to Us per day as from Ist January, 1917. -3 The Public Works Department are to he asked to put in cattle-stops to the road to the pound at Kohura-
tahi. . The County overseer was appoint-ed-dog-tax/cPllefctor. Accounts amounting to £287 13a Id were passed for payment.
