At the Waipa Meeting on Saturday there was a sensational return in wie opening event, which went to Bingham, a two-year-old in F. Mac Mane min's Ellerslie stables. In the Pirongia Hurdles another outsider, in Companion, prevailed from Gluepot, win* was a good favourite. The top weight, Tararu Jack, who was greatly fancied in Wellington, was withdrawn on the course. The Maiden Handicap went to British Arch, a winner at; Avondale in the spring. The runnerup was St. Francis, who paid his supporters a good price for second place. Depredation, ridden by Deeley, was a very hot order in the Cup, and he won very easily from Munster. Ringi Lupin, who seems to be a champion ab the country meetings, won the Kikikihi Handicap, five furlongs, making light of his 9st 7lb. The Bezonian filly, Lightning, was in second place. The winner .paid a very short price, as did Corregidor, winner of the Uhaupo Handicap, one mile. The Railway Handicap candidate. King Lupin, was the hottest order of the day in the Flying Handicap, which he won easily from Independence.
