All Taranaki wends its way New Plyraouth-ward on December 26th and 27th, when the Taranaki Jockey Club holds its popular Christmas Meeting on its beautiful racecourse grounds. ' Excellent acceptances have been received and good raving is promised. At a meeting of the District Committee of the Taranaki Jockey Club in New Plymouth last evening, the following gentleman riders’ certificates were granted:—!!. Appleyard, I’. BShield, W. Cleaver, .). J. Barry, J. T. Wade, T. L. Paget, F. W. Webb, J. Edwin, T. (!. Jones, Pohe Tito. and H. Weston. The Taranaki Jockey Club decided to donate £lO to the Overseas Tobacco Fund. The club agreed to admit free all soldiers in uniform to their December meeting, and to give tree passes to all returned soldiers making application to the secretary, and producing their certificate of discharge. The committee decided to give a gold cup, valued at 65 guineas, for the Taranaki Jockey Club’s Cup Handicap at the February meeting, laud a small sub-committee was appointed to make the purchase. Mr J. IC. Paterson, of Wanganui, was appointed deputy stipendiary stew aid.
