South of the Somme, the Germans attacked this morning eastwards of Berny on Santerre. Portions ol our advanced trenches wore penetrated, hut the enemy was immediately thrown out by a counter-attack. In succeeding attacking waves, we penetrated some trenches, taking prisoners at Frosneires southeast of Reims.
