The High Commissioner reports: — London, October IS (12.10 p.m.) A British official report states Notwithstanding the rain, wo pro pressed at points between the Albert Bapaume road and Los Boeufs taking some prisoners. ENEMY ATTACKS FAIL. FRENCH GAINS MAINTAINED. Tiie High Commissioner reports: — London, October IS (2.b0 p.m.) French reports say: North of fho Somme yesterday, the enemy renewed attempts on Sadly Saillisel. Three attacks wore broken successfully, and the enemy suffered serious loss. All our gains were maintained intact. South of the Somme, the Germans attacked this morning eastwards of Berny on Santerre. Portions ol our advanced trenches wore penetrated, hut the enemy was immediately thrown out by a counter-attack. London, October 18. A French communique states; Om fire broke three attacks at Sadly Saillisel, and an enemy attack east of Berny Santerre. Small parties penetrated our advanced trenches, but our counter-attack killed and captured them, or drove them back m disorder. In succeeding attacking waves, we penetrated some trenches, taking prisoners at Frosneires southeast of Reims.
