THE KAISER’S ESCAPE, AN ALARMING INCIDENT. MEMBERS OF STAFF KILLED. (Received 9.35 a.in.) Rome, April 11. Advices from Switzerland state that the Kaiser had a narrow escape at Verdun, a French shell exploding nearby killing several of the staff and destroying the motor. An official bulletin said that he was unhurt, but he unexpectedly went to Potsdam. It is believed he was struck by a fragment of shell or ewas severely shaken. BETHMANN-HOLLWEC’S SPEECH. London, April 10. The Germans accept Herr von Beth-mann-Holhveg’s speech in the Reichstag as impartt t, :« definition being given for the first tune of Germany’s true aims east and west. The Lokal Anzeiger semi-officially says that people beyond the frontiers must put up with these aims, whether acceptable or not.
