ANNUAL IvUETJUC-. i At Clamor’s flood's 1 a>i tnenmg tie Baud nold their animal meeting. when 1 the Mayor a<iur \V. Boon) preside., and among those present wore Or.;. A. Davey. T. Law,sou. J. H. Thompson, anj 6. vV. Aidls. Apologies for non 'attendance were received from tiio President of tin’ Band (Mr N. J. Kang), and Crs. it, W. Hancock, Hunter, and W. H. H. Young. ! THE ANNUAL REPORT. ! In presenting this report and bal-ance-sheet for your consideration, your committee hope that yon will hear In mind the exceptional circumstances under which the Baud lias been workdug- during the last I*2 mouths. ! liei'erenoe to the ha lance-sheet showed that we commenced the year with a credit balance of £24 12s Id. rafter buying, during the • previous •year, two tenor horns, 3 Bb cornets, ; 1 Eh cornet, 6 stands and 24 chairs, increasing the assets to the extent of la-bout £32. j The year ended on March 31st, 1915, with u credit balance of £.19 Is lid, notwithstanding the fact that the (Band refrained from taking up collecImohs at outdoor performances since jour Empire has been engaged in the (‘present great conflict, thereby allowing the more needful Patriotic Funds bit clear field. Exceptions were made at concerts ■given in the Hospital Grounds, where ( 'aotlections for the hospital funds were taken at three concerts. The supplementary balanace-sheet shows the financial position up to date, leaving a credit balance of £4 3s Bd, which members must consider as ve rev sati sfa ca {o ry. Concerts.— r i'he Band has given nine performanaceti iu tlie Park, three iu the Hospital, and four midweek concerts iu Broadway, all of which attracted u large and appreciative audience. We have assisted various kindred bodies and sports’ clubs, ; ( and. whenever possible, materially asisied the different patriotic; movements. Engagements.—The Baud has not had the same number.of engagements 1 a* in previous* -yetlr.s, ..Consequently t the linances suffered-io some extents hut the engagements we had were fill-', ed to the satisfaction of all concerned.'/ At the beginning yi 1 the year the Band, in conjunction With the Beautifying Society, embarked, oh a- Carnival, which, had it been carried through, gave promise of being most successful, and probably would have been the means of equipping the Band out | with a new set of uniforms and instruuuents. Unfortunately the declaration jof war by our Empire necessitated a winding up, with the result that we only got 1,20(1 in ;■■ ;>!’ ■ £430 to £450 as anticipated. This inonav has been placed at interest for 12- months, or for such time as the committee may decide upon. The membership has kept up v-ry well, and the musical progress has been very marked, and th© thanks of the .committee are due to. all for the state ol affairs. How- i ,9• . ; lover, the ranks cf the Bar 4, have lately been thinned, and are to he thinned : still more in the near future, by the i flwelling of Our army ranks, but all the , ■-i ■ .n;r ■ can exj.e-.-ss u.
