NORTH TARANAKI HUNT.
Tlie North Taranaki hounds took the field yesterday in charge of DeputyM ister E. Mason, in the absence of the master (Mr A. H. Halcombe). Tim meet' was at the farm of Mr W. Harris, iWaihi, and that gentleman, I with his wife and lady friends, extended a hearty welcome to all who assembled, and dispensed light refreshments. After some fine runs, an adjournment was made to the homestead, where the followers and friends were
entertained to afternoon tea by Mr and Mrs Harris. Deputy Master K. H. Chainey, in a neat speech, extended the hearty thanks of the club to Mi 1 and Mrs Harris for their hospitality and to those farmers over whose ground the hunt had taken place. Mr Harris, in responding, assured the club of the hearty welcome on any occasion that they visited his place. Amongst the straight goers were Deputy Master Mason on Bachelor’s Button, Deputy Master Chaney on Warea, Messrs N. Peppered (huntsman) on Billy, E. Peppered (whip) on Czar, Hookham on Otoroa, J. Foreman on Red Hazard, J. Cole on Uruti, AY. Cole on Darkie, O’Neil on Larrikin, Harris on Puniroliakau, C. Topliss on Greyboy, McKenzie on Nelly, McClellan on Peter, N. Fulton on Toilet., Amongst the spectators were Mesdames Peppered and Daveney, and Messrs S. Topliss, sen., Rae, Mabin, Stockman (2), and various others whose names were not, available.
