SOUTH AUSTRALIA’S STOCK RETURNS. ■ | > (Received 8.40 a.m. ) Adelaide, May 14. The stock returns at the end of 1914 are Cattle—3oo,s79, decrease 5228; h0r5e5 ! —267,877, decrease 15,764; sheep—-4,208,461, decrease 864,596. The decreases are largely due to the drought which prevailed, MOUNT LYELL COMPANY. ! •: I. - .i ■ r (Received 9.45 a.m.) Sydney, May 14. At the half-yearly meeting of the Mount Lyell Company, it was stated that the net profits were £98,220. The ore reserves of the North Lyell mine were estimated at 1,239,000 tons, and the Mount Lyell reserves 1,894, 928 tons. This is an increase of 146.000 on the 1912 valuation.

It was resolved that the States should introduce legislation permitting friendly societies to pay out sick and funeral funds the premiums necessary fpr the reinsurance of mortality and sickness risks in connection with members of the expeditionary forces.
