THE HON. ANDREW FISHER
WELCOMED BY LABOR PARTY.
Per Press Association,
Auckland, December 30
A deputation representing the Labor Party waited on the Hon. Andrew Fisher to-day welcoming him to New Zealand. Representatives of a large number of unions participated. Mr Fisher said the welcome was a happy augury for the solidarity of the Labour movement in New Zealand. That movement was the same the world over, and their sympathies should he as wide as the world itself. He believed that that there should be a constant delegation of leading men going round the world seeing what had been done or left undone, for only by such means could they counteract the spirit of conservatism which crept into their movement as well as into the Tory movement. That was how suecess had come to the Party in Australia. Here in New Zealand they Must realise that it was for men to work out their own destiny.
