Criterion Handicap, of 350 sovs. For two-year-olds. Six furlongs.—2 Arran 1, 3 Loyal Arch 2, 5 Housewife 3. Won by three-quarters of i length, half a length between second and third. Time Imin 15sec.
Waftematn Handicap, of 250 sovs. One mile and a quarter.—-3 El Gallo 1, Makura 2, 9 Kaween 3. Won by two and a half lengths, half a length .between second and third. Time 2rhin 9sec.
Salisbury Welter Handicap, of 350 sovs; one mile.—6 Beldame 1, 3 Iliad’s Hero 2, 5 Patronale 3. Won by a length and three-quarters, a length between second and third. Time Imin 40sec.
MANAWATU RACES.
Palmerston N., December 29
The weather was ideal for the third day of the Manawatu races, and £23,240 was put through the machine, making a total of £84,834 for the three days, an increase of £2057 on last year’s figures. Additional reults:—
President’s Handicap, of 300 sovs, me mile and a quarter.—Awahou 1, Moutoa Girl 2, Bertrada 3. Also .barted: Kimbombi 7.1, Guiding Way 5.12, Stepney 6.7. Bertrada led from he start, but was displaced by Awa;ou coming near the winning post. Moutoa Girl then came fast, beating Bertrada for second money by a small margin. Time 2min 7 l-ssec.
Westbury Hack Handicap, of 100 sovs; five furlongs.—Marimba 1, Martlet 2, Shepherd’s Bush 3. Wen by a length. Time, Imin Isec.
Kawau Handicap, of 200 sovs; six furlongs,—Gladiole 1, Lady Alicia 2. Pavlova 3. Won easily. Time, 1 min 14 3-ssec. ■
Christmas Hack Welter Handicap, of 100 sovs; seven furlongs.—Jem 1. Tanito 2, Melodist 3. Won easily. Time, Imin SOseo.

United Fbeh Association. Perth, December 29 The Perth Cup resulted: —Dollar Dictator 1, Castro 2, Chief Secretary 3. Seven started. Won by two and a half lengths. Time, 3mm 31 1-5 sec. ' Sydney, December 29. The racing mare Isolt died of pnuomonia. An Auckland telegram states that as the result of the injuries received while training, the Auckland hurdler Ruffy has been shot.
