A German official wireless states that while general confidence is felt in the Austro-Germans making progress in the east, official reports from the front indicate that no advantage has been won, and the reports also call attention to the lack of Austrian progress indicated in the official report from Vienna. FIGHTING IN THE MUD. Timm and Stone* Son Sieviom. (Receive 1 8 a in.) London, December 29. An eye-witness states that in one place the mud was so bad that neither the French nor Germans were able to fire their rifles, so they foughc with picks and shovels.
