Sergeant William McNeely, of Stratford has been promoted to the rank of senior-sergeant, and goes to Hawera. He expects to leave Stratford next week. .

Mr G. D. Braik, director of education for the Wanganui District, went under a serious operation at a private hospital in Feilding on Saturday morning for an internal complaint, and,, so far (states a Press Association telegram) his condition is satisfactory.

A very pretty wedding was celebrated in Holy Trinity Church, Stratford, on Boxing Day, the happy pair being Mr Lee Winn Da vies, of Murchisou, and Miss Ida Sole, eldest daughter of Mr C. D. Sole, J.P., of Stratford. The bride, who looked charming, was robed in white satin charmeuse, with train and the orthodox veil and orange blossoms. She carried a lovely sheaf of Christmas lillies. Her bridesmaids were Miss Constance Da-vies, of Nelson, sister of the bridegroom, and Miss Hilda Sole, sister of the bride. Miss Davies was attired in a white frosted embroidered crepe, and a pretty black picture hat. Miss Sole wore a white embroidered muslin with white satin hat. Miss Sydney Sole was flower girl, attired in white. The best man was Mr Dudley Winn, cousin of the bridegroom, who had come up from Owen Junction to assist. The ceremony Tfafi performed by tho Vicar of Stratford the Pvev. C. W. Howard, assisted by the Kev. Mr Harvie. After the ceremony a reception was held, and the usual toasts drunk)-The wedding was a family one, owing to recent bereavements in the bride's and bridegroom's families. Mr and Mrs Davies, left on the honeymoon by the train for south, amidst the congratulations of their friends.
