WOODVILLE JOCKEY CLUB’S

MEETING.

(Notes by Cicero.)

The Woodville Jockey Chib’s spring meeting, which was postponed from last week owing to the general election, will open to-morrow, when record fields promise to face the starter. A very large number figure in the Trial Hack, but Steinheil will only have to strike form to keep the opposition busy. A number of fair hack hurdlers are engaged in the second event, the Hack Hurdles. Glen Nevis, who will possibly make a name for himself as a hurdler, and Rustic will have the largest following. Orleans and Plunder read as well as any in the Grandstand Hack. The Woodville Handicap has drawn a really good class of horse, when one considers the prize money. Rewi Poto, Kooya and St. Elmn are a likely trio. No less than twenty-four appear in the Flying Hack. Gold Soult (who is fast), Intelligible, and Roumania, should provide a good race. Should Wild Lupin be reserved for the Borough Handicap he ought to start favorite, and in his absence Lady Alicia and Black Lupin may divide favoritism. A number of horses engaged m the Welter Hack may start earlier in the day. Should Orleans and Roumania start they must be hard to dispose of. The day’s racing will be brought to a close with the Electric Handicap. In the absence of Astor, who is an unlikely starter, Goldstream and Daytime appear well handicapped.
