The Railway goods shed will he closed on Polling Day from noon except for urgent work. The publicans of Newcastle (N.S.W.) have decided (reports a Sydney cablegram) to cut the measure of a pint of beer down to three-quarters of a nint and still charge three-pence. In Sydney the licensed victuallers decided to raise the prices of beer from threepence to four-pQnce per glass; bottled beer, from six-pence, to seven-pence; and spirits, with mineral waters’ to nine-pence. The Trade in Melbourne has adopted'an'increased schedule of nrices and decided to abolish counter lunches.
