AMUSEMENTS.

HIS MAJESTY’S THEATRE. There will be no pictures at His Majesty’s to-night. For one night only (Thursday) the management will screen that wonderful story by Dickens, entitled “David Cdpperfield.” The characters in this world-known story are played by picked English artists. The story is considered by many to be Charles Dickens’ greatest work, many of the characters, as those of Micawber, and Uriah Heep, having been immortalised and their names become part and parcel of the English language. The story deals with the life of David Copperheld from his earliest days. We follow him in his unhappy life with his stepfather, and his still more wretched experiences at school. We see him at Can ter bury, haunted by the villainous machinations of Uriah Heep and accompanied by his faithful admirer, Mlrawber. Again we see the elopement of little .Emily with Steerforth, Peggoty’s vain search, little Emily’s rescue from the anger of Rosa Dartle, and Steerforth’s unhappy end. “The Germans’ Occupation' of Louvain” will be screened on Friday night.
