ANNOUNCING THE RESULTS.
Special arrangements have been made by the “Stratford Eveiting Post” to display the election results as they come to hand to-morrow evening, and by the kindness of Mr W. P. Kirk wood the results will be projected from the County Hotel balcony to a large screen, which, by special permission of the Postmaster, will he erected at a sufficient height in front of the north wing of the Postal buildings. As soon after darkness sets in as possible, results to hand from the various booths in the Stratford Electorate will be screened and indications given from time to time of how the candidates stand. The display will commence about 8 p.m. Results from various parts of the Dominion will be received by urgent telegram, but it is unlikely that many outside results will be available before eleven p.m.As there is always a lively interest in what is happening in other parts of the Dominion at a General Election, it i; proposed to continue screening the figures as they come to hand untf about 2 a.m. on Friday. A considerable amount of trouble is being taken in connection with the display, which will be under the personal direction of Mr J. McAllister, a guarantee in itself that the thing will be well done All required in this connection is a fine night and not too much moonshine. On behalf of Mr W. P. Kirkwood we have to specially remind the public that it is quite impossible to permit access to the balcony of the hotel however much the proprietor might be inclined to grant the privilege. To save the possibility of offence we are making the matter perfectly clear. Only the guests of the hotel, and those immediately concerned in the working ( of the display will bo permitted on the balcony. Mr Kirkwood, of course, extends a hearty invitation to the candidates to occupy a place and tc j return thanks from the balcony when the poll is assured. A special reason ' for the restriction Mr Kirkwood is j compelled to impose, is that the floor ■ space of the structure is' very con siderable, and though sufficiently strong for any ordinary purpose, it was never intended to support the strain of a great crowd of people, and it is their own interests that Mr Kiri ! wood is obliged to decline to allow tin general public access to the balcom lon the night in question. This small ' explanation is now made to save heart burnings and disappointment on t!u part of those who may not have , thought the matter out from tbn standpoint.
