THE MINE PERIL. THE BRITISH WARSHIPS. United Pbess Association. London, December 5. The Admiralty states that tho Berlin, whoso capture was recently announced, was almost without coal. The vessel was specially fitted for minelaying, but, as far as is known, there were no mines aboard. Probably these had been sown broadcast in the track of neutral and British shipping. German floating mines are constantly sighted, and many are still dangerous.
The Admiralty notifies that lights, buoys, and log signals in the Channel and on the Downs are liable to cessation or alteration without notice after the I.oth. The Navy List shows the addition of the battleship Canada, the light cruisers Cambrian and Wallaroo. The battleship Canada was the Almirante Latorie, building for Chili. The Admiralty christened the new flotilla leaders the Botha and the Tipperary.
